лLight in water-colours by Boris Arutyunyan is a mystical phenomenon and a symbol of supreme sphere╗, - art critic Oleg Torchinsky.
(Moskovskaya pravda, 18.06.1995)
лWater-colours by B.Arutyunyan is a soaring soul of poetryЕ His hand is penetrating and searching. I am looking at these paintings at this to a superior degree tender brush and unintentionally becoming thoughtful about the beauty of the EarthЕ They've got an iridescent, streaming light of cloudiness, tender morning fluorescence, settled and laconic evening lighting. This is a rich voiceЕ How lot of space full of purity with agitated meditation is thereЕ╗ - writer and essays autheress Nelly Saackyan.
(Architect, 17.07.1979)
лBoris Arutyunyan, works in water-colours. An architect by trade, he has left architecture to paint full-time. The many glazes (up to 30 layers) Arutyunyan applies to his artwork lend a sometimes translucent and glowing felling to the landscape in his water-colours.
Moreover, the unexpected angles of viewing, such as from the perspective of birds flights, create a mysterious world both beautiful and mesmerising, seeming to extend into infinity.Although ArutyunyanТs water-colours can appear whimsical in nature, Koktebel, Ararat Mountain, St. Petersburg and Egypt, are quite realistic. The overall impression produced by his extremely refined and sophisticated works is oftentimes a surreal one.
Even more noteworthy than the intricate devices that Arutyunyan employs is his general philosophy:лThe top invisible hierarchy of existence is harmonious, the upper reality living in the human mind is beautiful.╗ In ArutyunyanТs paintings, at least, it is so╗ - journalist Olga Slobodkina.

"The principal mission of famous Russian artist (Armenian by birth) Boris Arutyunyan is to be in harmony with the nature. Showing the proportionateness of its elements: the Earth, the Water and the Air his water-colour paintings give spectators an opportunity to contemplate the different corners of our planet from the altitude and to feel the primary nature of its spaces or the nobility of its anthropological landscapes, to penetrate into the mystery of natural phenomenon in order to sense themselves as a constant part of our great but such a vulnerable world.
The painter has been working in series of paintings which can be devoted to a country (Israel, Egypt), to a city (Moscow, St.Petersburg, Venice, Ljubljana ), to a natural phenomenon (Volcano, Tornado), to an architectural construction (Castles, Fortresses), to a georaphical place (Ararat Mountain, Bay Koktebel). In every case the series of water-colours united with one subject shows the dynamics of spatial transformation. It may be an intense heat of desert, a fresh water of Armenian lake Sevan, a biblical whiteness of winter Ararat Mountain, twilight of St.Petersburg but the dialog with spectators is realized by the way of the light energy. This energy overrides the colour, the composition, even the texture of paper.
A special place takes one of the last series Rose of the World illustating the book of the same name by Russian writer Daniil Andreev. Creating the tops of metacultures the artist incarnates mysterious spaces called by the writer лzatomisy╗.
Water-colour series by Boris Arutyunyan contain the impulse of spiritual merging the human soul and the human mind with the nature", - Nadezhda Starikova.
